Raipur-Vizag Expressway 90% Complete in Chhattisgarh: Travel Time to Cut from 12 Hours to Just 5

The Raipur-Visakhapatnam Expressway, one of the most significant infrastructure projects connecting Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh, is nearing completion. As of the latest project updates, construction of the 464-km, six-lane greenfield expressway stands at roughly 90% complete on the Chhattisgarh stretch, around 70% in Odisha, and about 60% in Andhra Pradesh.

Once fully operational, the expressway will cut travel time between Raipur and Visakhapatnam from the current 12 hours down to just 5 hours - a reduction of nearly seven hours. It will also shorten the total distance from 597 km on the existing NH-26 route to 465 km, saving 132 km of travel.

Full commissioning of the corridor is now targeted for December 2026, against an original deadline of March 2024. The total project cost is estimated at approximately Rs 16,482 crore, based on Detailed Project Reports submitted by the three states involved.

What This Means for Raipur and Nava Raipur Real Estate

Improved connectivity along this corridor is expected to have a direct impact on property values in and around Raipur and Nava Raipur. Industry estimates suggest that pockets along the Raipur-Naya Raipur belt could see annual value appreciation in the range of 10-15%, driven by better access, reduced logistics costs, and increased investor interest from neighboring states.

For homebuyers and investors tracking Chhattisgarh's real estate market, the expressway represents one of the clearest signals yet of the state's growing connectivity to southern and eastern India, opening up new economic corridors for trade, logistics, and residential development along the route.

Bharat Builteriors Group will continue to track construction milestones on this project as they are officially confirmed.
